If you just purchased it, you should quarantine it from your other herps for a good long time to insure that it cannot transmit any diseases and decimate your collection.

If the new snake is carrying anything, you may have infected others before it becomes symptomatic/obvious. It's risky business to buy a new snake and not quarantine it.

i have already had him checked at my local reptile vet. and i got him from a reputable breeder, the guy i got him from puchased him from peter kahl, i got all the records and everything, with the vet and the people i got him from i'm fairly certain the snake is disease free, i don't mean to sound ~~~~y or anything, but i've already thought of that, all new snakes i get are checked out before i bring em home

Just bear in mind that IBD is not detectable by a simple exam and requires biopsy.

Things like crypto, paramyxovirus, and others have an incubation period that lets them look healthy for some time before they become symptomatic. Then it's too late. A physical exam is no substitute for quarantine. Ask anyone who has had to put down their entire collection.

All that being said, they are your animals and your business. I wish you the best.

I go through a lot of boas and somtimes you get a new breeder in at the tail end of the breeding season. Some boas are safe, In your case I'd think so. If it where from an unknown, put it in with a ball for 30 days

i appreciate the concern ranger and believe me i wouldn't knowingly put any of my animals in any kind of danger, i just know the guy pretty well who i got her from and he has given me all vet records and everything else i said in the previous post, he's a triple het and my female is 100% het for albino, so i really wanna get em together and see what pops out :)

I think you should do what ever you feel comfortable with. If you feel it's "OK" to put them together, then go for it. Their your animals, so it's your choice.

I personally would never put a new animal in with my boas, with out being quarantined. It's just the way I do things. I quarantine all new animals for 6 month to a year. I generally purchase my animals as babies, so there's no temptation to breed them sooner. The source of any new animals doesn't matter. They all get quarantined. I've purchased from well known breeders in the past and those animals get the same "very long" quarantine times as the rest. For me, it's the best way to go. I'd rather wait an extra year or two than risk my collection. :)

Not everyone chooses to quarantine their animals. It's their choice.
