It's not really that strange. I have seen that before. I have actually seen the female draging the poor little male around. That's not good...

This is the first time I've ever seen them in this posistion. They were laying perfectly still, except for the male's tail. His tail was slowly waving up and down. I took the picture on the down beat. It was funny to watch. It's like they both knew what was going on, but neither cared. LOL. :)

Fortunately the female wasn't draging him around. I think if she had been I would have removed him, once they were no longer attached, and given him the rest of the season off. It would be better to miss a breeding than have the male injured.

I checked them later in the evening. They were in a more "traditional" posistion. :D
