I have a DH Sunglow female and Albino male that i believe are ready to breed for their first time. The female is 2 1/2 years old, about 15 lbs, and 6 1/2 ft. The male is 1 1/2 years old and is 4 1/2 feet. I placed them together two nights ago and the male has been around the female ever since then, but he doesn't seem to be courting her. I often find him just laying on or beside her.. but i haven't observed him zig zag on top or squeezing her at all. My question is... should i leave him in, or take him out feed her a small meal and try again in a couple weeks? Is this male maybe trying to court, but doesn't know what he's doing? Not sure if i should just wait a couple more days and see, or take him out for now.. what's your guy's advice? Thanks in advance! (below is a picture of the pair)

It's up to you if you want to leave them together or not. Of course, it's still early in the season and your female might still want food. It sounds like she's got good weight, but most times they won't eat during gestation.
I like to put them together as early as possible. It's just the way I do things.

I put 5 pairs together on Sept. 4th. The males are courting like crazy and the females seem to like the attention. I figure they know when it's time. I continue feed my boas when they're breeding, so I don't worry about them missing meals. I give them half the amount they normally get. I also change the water daily, because they drink more often when the water is fresher. My females will continue to eat until the pre-ovulation swell. Then they refuse food. I like to feed my females until they refuse food on their own. All but 2 of my males have stopped eating, because they'd rather breed. My males normally refuse food sooner than the females.
