She ate a medium rat last weekend but that's the first food I've given her in months since she's been breeding. I saw no ovulation and got no post ovulation shed(in case I missed the ovulation). She keeps getting bigger and bigger though. Maybe slugs? Lots and lots of breeding activity. She did shed for me a week or so ago but the male has been out for a month. I took him out after 3 or 4 weeks of no interest. He was kinda hungry anyway. Lol. I thought maybe he was just hungry so I fed him and waited a couple days and put him back in. Still not interested though so now he's back out for good. Anyway, I saw her looking like this, this morning. Kinda flattened out but wide. What do you think?

??? How many months of breeding ??? 12 weeks has been my MAX, going back to 1995. If that photo was taken @ weeks 5 ~ 8, I would identify it as Follicular Maturation (FM). She is probably only LOOKING bigger. She has been surviving off of her FAT STORES. In this case, you should continue to feed her small meals until she releases the products of breeding..

So what would you do at week 12 if they were still breeding? These went much longer than that. I introduced the male on 10-7 and within a couple days it was on. He bred her constantly until 1-22 and hasn't touched her since. I took him out on 2-10 and fed him, then put him back in on 2-13 but he still wasn't interested. I took him back out for good on 2-24. That picture was taken yesterday, 3-24. I also have this girls sister who was the exact same size before breeding season. Sister wasn't interested in breeding and I gave up on her for this year a while ago. Sister has been eating every week but still looks much smaller than this girl. This girl shed on 3-13. My plan at this point is to feed her medium rats about every 2-3 weeks until she drops or I'm sure she's not gonna. I'll count her shed on 3-13 as a POS even though I don't think it is and I'll count from there to decide if she's gravid or not. Anyway, back to my question; After 12 weeks, would you take the male out even if he's still breeding her every day? -Chris

What's Up Chris...
If the male is still courting @ week 13, I would allow his HORNY behavoir up to week 16 as I have had a few exceptions to the 12 week MAX, due to shed cycles & other non documented issues. Breeding can be stressful to the male if he is not focused on surviving beyond the breeding season. I have a male "HARPO" that seems to never drink H2O during his cycling, but that is neither HERE or THERE & I have pulled him @ the 12th week... JUST BECAUSE!!
Your male lost interest @ 15 days beyond the 12th week so...... he should be fine. If your female is in a heat conservation coil or hugging the HOT SPOT she is gravid w/fertile little boas growing on top of their yolks:) I would agree to use the recent shed as a POS, at least you have a chance @ predicting the PARTURITION date which will be business as usual if she has liveborns. Difficult if it is a SLUGFEST:(
Please post the outcome! Keith..

Well I thought I'd post an update. I've been feeding her a medium rat every 2 weeks. She still looks pretty big. Interestingly enough, I see today that she's blue. If she were in fact gravid, I guess this would be 1 of those intermediate sheds I've read about. I have her projected due date as June 24th. We'll see...........
The male is eating great and looking forward to another crack at her this year! One of these years I'll get some sunglows. Lol.

Here's a couple pics of her today. She really doesn't look that big in person. Nice scale separation though. I absolutely refuse to get my hopes up. Lol. She's a DH Sunglow and the male is an albino so that would be a nice litter.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that 100% no other possibility, with complete certainty... maybe.
Seriously though I'd say she is. Probably, I mean I think... Then again...
Okay I'll shut up now.
