I haven't posted these guys much but as you can tell from the photo, the color on them is absolutely off the charts. This is one of our Mandarin boas next to a baby we produced this season.

We have 1.2 of them. Hopefully in a few short years we will be able to breed some of that color into our upcoming projects.

Hey Franco,
The Mandarin line originated in France and there are a couple breeders in Europe that produce them. To the best of my knowledge they are BCI but I do not know their original locality. After observing them for several months, my best guess is that they are from somewhere in Central America but I could never prove it.

These boas are some of the most colorful I have ever seen and certainly the most orange. There are times they just seem to glow. We are very excited to have found them and are very hopeful for some fantastic things to come from this line.

Thanks for the reply Denny. Just imagine what the babies would look like if you bred it with a supersalmon or a blood? Keep us updated on the progress of this little guy/girl/

Thanks,
Franco

I would like to know more about these Mandarins, do you have a website or email of the breeder. I love the orange as well and would like to add more of that color in a project or two.

With the exception of the eye color, Mandarin boas are fairly close in color to the Blood boas that John Berry produced last year. Mandarins have bluish eyes instead of dark eyes.

One of the most exciting things about the Mandarin bloodline for Kathy and me is that there are very few of them in the United States. The bloodline was developed in Europe and there are only 6 animals currently in the US. We have 1.2 and our friend, Gray Rushin, has the other 2.1 We hope in the coming years to make many of them available to boa collectors in this country.
