would you pair up specific Boas, and have them produce nothing, before giving up on that pair?
This is year two that I've had this happen. The female is acting interested. I've seen her lift her tail and drag it around the cage. She's a little darker than usual, has looked a little swollen. I haven't seen the male do anything. In all fairness to the male, I don't really look in there very often. Could he be a "sneaky Breeder"
If a male is a bum two years in a row, with a certain female, is he usually a bum no matter what?
This is frustrating, because the male is a very nice normal.
Here's the male, he's an 03:

and the female, she's a 2000 baby:

The only "seasonality" they've had is a reduction in photo period, and a slight night temp drop that occurs as winter comes on here in the frozen tundra.
It is snowing here today, for crying out loud!
Why oh why do I live in Minnesnowta?

Males are sometimes "sneaky breeders". We have one that is, for sure.
They will also show interest in one female and not another for some reason. I sure wish these creatures could speak in a language I can understand because boas can be VERY frustrating at times.
Minnesnowta isn't so bad...it beats "Hurricane alley" here in FL, especially in the Summer!!

Boas could be just like us in that love is in the eye of the beholder..............and he is not interested in this girl. I would switch it up if he seems to be indifferent.
It could be in the pheromones................try some mood music.............:)...........lol.

Thanks for the replies.
It seems like any time there's a breeding question on the forums, people get quiet, so I appreciate it when people do reply!
Unfortunately, he is the only male I have at present. When I got back into Boas two years ago, I decided to get females first, because they take so long to mature. I have four girls and one boy. I now question the decision! The female he is paired up with is the only one mature right now. Next year, two more girls will be ready, and the year after that, my 2004 Lokken Pastel het Anery will be ready. I am sooo excited about that one!
I was hoping to get a litter out of this pair, so I could hold back some nice males, or sell some babies and buy a nice Ghost for the Lokken girl.
Like Lennon said: "Life is what happens while we're busy making other plans."
Yeah, hurricanes would be a drag, to say the least! The wildlife in Florida would be awesome to experience though! I've always loved field collecting. Finding an Indigo would be really cool! Have you ever come across one Denny? I also only eat organic food, and the growing season up here is a real bummer for me. In Florida I could have an awesone garden! Maybe I could actually grow some peppers..
I wish I could take your advice Jade. Are you running out of room yet? It seems like you are getting a new Boa every week, lucky you!
Have a good one~

Your male doesn't look that big in the first comparing your fingers with him. He could just be a little intimidated by the size of the female. I wouldn't give up on him.

Thanks for the reply. That is an old picture. He's about 45" today. I do wonder if he is intimidated by her though. At first, all he did was hide in the corner. In the last week, he has been doing a little snuggling with her, lol!Maybe he's the sensitive, need a little snuggle first, kind of boy :p
The female is all of 7'
