This is the snake that was rescued by the department that I work for. He just came home today. He seems sooo docile so far. What a good boy.....

I'm not sure exactly what kind or morph he is. His name is Mars. I will try to get some new pictures of him stretched out when he feels like doing it. He is probably still stressed from his busy week of moving and being in a rescue shelter!

He's a great looking circleback BCI. Atleast thats my guesstimate. Congrats and good job taking him in.

I agree with Randy...nice BCI Circleback. He looks BIG!

He is big...about 8 feet long and 22 Lbs. He is slowly inspecting his cage. What exactly is a "Circle Back" other than the obvious? He looks like the pictures I have seen of "Jungles". He seems to be very tame as well. I sure like him :)

The term Circleback is self explanatory. The Jungle trait is not only pattern abberrency but also a trait that carries a LOT of color, so my guess is that your male isn't a Jungle.

When the light hits him the right way he has alot of iridescent highlights light a mallard duck. Is this normal?

The iridescence is normal. That is, they all have it. That's not the kind of color they are talking about. He is definately not a Jungle. A nice Columbian though.
How certain are you that it's male? The tail in the last pic looks short and stubby to me, which would indicate a female. An 8' male would have a good 8"- 10" tail easy, measuring from the cloaca (vent) to the tip of the tail. Also, a male that size would typically have huge spurs.

yes that is quite normal (it is with mine anyway )

nice boa there , are you sure of its sex as male rarely get to that size , im not saying it isnt ,but worth a check if you havnt already

Thanks. I'll have the sex checked at his first vet visit. He stayed in the water ALL night. He was still in it when I got up the next morning. That isn't bad is it? He does not have any mites. I don't think that he has had access to water that size for a while, maybe it just felt good. Thanks for all the help and input!! It's going to be a new adventure for me and mars.

it wont do it any harm as long as the water isnt too cold , some of my boas spend a few days at a time in their water bowls

The more I 've been reading and looking I think that Mars is a girl. The short tail, the shorter spurs....
She sure loves her pool! After I changed the water she "Ran" right to it and went totally under.
Thanks for all the info.
