Arrrrrg. I've been pulling my hair out with this girl trying to decide if I think she is gravid or not.

Here's the run-down on the breeding trial (copy/pasted from my personal notes):

January 10, 2006 – 2003 Salmon Possible Super was placed in with this female instead. No immediate interest noticed. Just lots of tongue flicking. He was later seen balled up in the corner.

January 13, 2006 – Salmon has begun courting. Tails are wrapped... looking good.

February 19, 2006 – Salmon has been courting her off and on .. mainly on. Swelling observed around the 10th of Feb... either pre-ov swell or one side ovulating (other side likely to ovulate anytime now).

March 7, 2006 – Female shed today. I am not certain if this was POS or not because it was not a seemingly long shed cycle. If it indeed is POS her due date is June 30, 2006. Multiple swellings have been observed. I think her ovaries may have fired off at different times. She looks swollen still and was observed thermo regulating on the hot spot today.

March 11, 2006 – Over the past 4 days the female has been acting gravid. She is spending more time on the hot side and keeping her body curled up. The male has not courted her since the shed. This male has been an extremely strong breeder for me so at this point I believe she was gravid and her POS was on March 7. 101 days to go...

March 27, 2006 – Female has been seen in what looks to be a heat conservation position but primarily on the cool side. There seems to be some swelling but it is not as clear as I would like it to be. I'll continue feeding her small rats bi-weekly up until a month prior to her due date.

May 24, 2006 - Intermediate shed observed

She has bahaved the same since my March 27th update - Conservation positions seen often but primarily on the cool side... not enough swelling to really scream gravid to me.

She was bred by my K grade ihle possible super salmon ... hes no motley or jungle but I am still very excited about the potential of this litter.

Her due date, if she is gravid, is June 30. Wish me luck.

Here's a shot of the male (from a month or two ago):

she doesnt look to gravid to me for only being a month from delivering, and its not a good sign she isnt sitting on her heat, what is her body temp? and is she eating? i also dont see the scale seperation that you usualy see at this time of gustation, keep us posted. reid

Thanks all.

I agree reid, signs arent looking too good. Not sure on her body temp, I need to invest in a temp gun. She has been eating bi weekly, small meals. I'm hoping she's one of those "I had no clue she was gravid then she delivered 25 healthy babies!" deals, hehe.

The only two signs I have seen which could signify something is, what looks to be consistant conservation positions, and slight swelling (more than I would expect from what little she has been eating).

I had the same thing happen with my female last year. She suprized me with 9 slugs. I was just happy to know what was going on.
