Im interested in locating breeders producing or working with boas with characteristics similar to the animal in the photo - an 8' female. Would like to expand the bloodline with out diluting it's characteristics.

WOW ::) Look at those side blotches and that tail. :'( I haven't seeing many "any" like that. And that characteristics (pattern) is awesome, the very best of luck in your search. :'(
That is one fine babe!
I haven't seen any Suri's that look like that, but I've seen Guyanans that do..
Man she's fine!!
Just one more look...

I got her from a freind that obtained her on one of his long periods in Surinam ( his wife is Surinamese), and he gave me a specific locality in central Surinam. The thing was stocky and a terrific eater from the begining at 3.5 feet. I've seen alot of shipments from Suriname and the Guyanas but the combination of high color yet high black and yet very clear patterning is unusual - especially in a boa approaching 8 feet. I've seen another with a similar outlook (in a shipment of 62 from Georgetown). Unfortunatley it was half dead upon arrival.
This one is currently gravid. However it is her first breeding and the swelling is moderate - so we'll see what comes of it.
Here is another colorful Suriname , from a litter of 28 and 3 slugs born last June to a different female.

and another from the same litter. The litter was quite variable as this one has a whitish look to it.

Hey glewis,
Welcome to the forum!
That is a really stellar Suri project you have. I have not seen and adult anywhere that looks as unique as yours.
If you are looking for some other bloodline to breed into your line, I know that the Boaphile Plastics guy, Joel DuBay, is working with a line that is, at least in part, from another w/c Suri that also has it's own unique look!
Whatever you choose to do, PLEASE keep posting pics of those offspring. Those little guys are incredible!

Well, it looks like I found the right address to appreciate boas. Thanks for all the compliments.
When Joel is ready to share some photos I'll certainly be interested.
While we are on the color subject, here is another photo of a very colorful red tail. I was scanning shipments for males, when she came in with a shipment of 22 from Paramaribo. She was tiny but showed some lavender occelli so I coudn't pass her up. She had some trouble adjusting initially and didn't develop background color until she was close to 4 '. I have a few others with alot of color but this is the most intense example. She starts out lavender towards the head and at midbody shifts to salmon/orangish . Not much black. You see the same intense color transformation on the venter. She is now 5' and still growing fast.

And here are more offspring pictures that Denny was interested in from the June 18 '04 litter from wild caught parents. The Father was peaked, the mother more like the two above. Both parents have good color. Not surpisingly I ended up with a mix of patterns in the litter.
The following two take after the father
That should do it for now.
Thanks, G. Lewis

OK, now I'm really jealous! :P
Thanks for the pics.

It must be nice to dig through wild caught animals to find what you're after. Like a kid in a candy store!
That last girl with the reduced black is awesome!
Can anyone say Pastel Suriname?
