I have a few questions about Rosy Boas. Am I allowed to ask the in this section or is this basically for the larger Boas?

OK, Since I got a yes and nobody said "no" I'm going to ask. My daughter has a female Rosy Boa. The snake is 15 years old. Anyway she was given a young male Rosy last year. We don't know how long Rosy Boas can live, but I've been told 20+ years isn't uncommon. Now this year my daughter wanted to try to breed her female with the male. She wants Rosy to have babies so she'll always have Rosy with her even after she's gone. They're both the same type, Arizona Choco Rosy, but I'm concerned about the females age. So is it alright to breed a 15 year old Rosy or could it cause her problems? We don't want to do anything that might harm Rosy. Rosy is her name. I know real original. ;D Please post any answers here or email me at adnilnod@ikansas.com. One more thing. she's done that winter cooling thing every year since we've had her and there's never been any problems.
Thanks,
Linda :)

8) I say go for it.. I reckon she'd still be reproductivly active in the wild so why not in captivity..

As far as something bad happening, there's always that risk.. you can have a female in her prime, have complicatioins and die. Just keep her surroundings "perfect" and she shouldnt have a problem..

I just want to say tho, Ive never had a rosy, dont know anyone who has, and now that I think about, I dont think Ive ever had one in my hands either, so knowing that, I may be wrong in suggesting you go for it.. I dont know how they "work", Im just assuming a boa, is a boa, is a boa...

I thought I'd post an update on our Rosy Boa. She gave birth last night. She had 6 healthy babies and no slugs. Mom and babies are doing fine. I'll post a picture later. Right now we're setting the babies up in individual containers. They seem to be fairly large, but I don't know how big Rosy babies are suppose to be. Anyway we're pretty happy about them.

Thats cool six huh.. I think that is perty good for the first breeding.. I got my rosy when it was just 2 month's old and it was perty big... I also have a corn snake and it was 4 months old when I got him and he was tiny.. smaller then a pencil.. so they are kinda big.. Nice job on the breeding... was this the first atempt...??
well look'in forword to the pic.
