Anyone have Long-tailed Boas (Boa c. longicauda)

I am thinking of buying some longicauda boas, and was just wondering if anyone could give me some info. on them, husbandy, etc. Some pics and descriptions of temperaments would be a bonus too. If I do buy some I will definately post them and my experiences with them.

hello . uhm b.c. longicauda, are found in northern peru, you can find some great info on vin russo's web site
cuttingedgeherp.com, also on boa-constrictor.com, herman and erika stockle out of germany, peruvian black tails can be hard to come by and very pricey, however just yesterday i see that gladesherps, are selling them on kingsnake classifieds for only 350, which if they really are longtails , then thats a unbelievable price, i myself am looking to buy some off them, anyways the best bloodline would be eldebrock, then harding. none the less the longtail is a great locality specific boa and i really do hope you find yourself a breeding pair, mike

Hello Mike, thanks for the reply. I have looked over those websites you mentioned several times before, and they are helpful, highly recommend those myself. I bought a female which is Doug Matuszak stock, not sure of the lineage, but I do have that, just not memorized yet. I also looked over Glades Herp ad, and that is a great price, good luck with those. I have plans to buy a male from Doug next season for my female. Hopefully the longicauda will be easier to come by in the near future. Thanks again, and good luck with the longicauda from Glades Herp, please post a pic of them if you do decide to buy them. I am waiting for my female, but as soon as she gets here i will post a few pics for you.

I have 2 female longicauda I purchased from John Meltzer about 3 years ago unfortunatly he has been unable to provide a male so I'm going to have to go else where. their realy starting to look good now I've found them to be hardy they always ate well but as babies they were very nippy they tamed down nicely though

Hello Steve, thanks a lot for the pic., nice looking snake. I myself will be looking for a male next year, so if I hear of any soon I will try to let you know. Well, I will post pics as soon as my female arrives, and if you get a chance to take more please post them. Thanks for the warning on being snippy as young, I will watch my fingers more closely now.

I have thought about offering to trade a female for a male but since I cant decide which one I'd get rid of I'm just going to keep both of them. unfortunatly I dont have PICS of the other one she's starting to turn silver even though the two are sisters they look quite different

Hello Steve, too bad you can't get any pics, I'd love to see those boas turning silver. I am expecing my female to arrive on thursday, so I will try to take pics either then or this weekend and post them. I have seen a few advertised lately on Kinsgsnake, if you want a male maybe contact one of those breeders, Mike you might be able to get a really good deal right now too on a female or a pair if thats what you want. The prices actually were good too cwm27.gif. I saw a pair for a great price just this past week or weekend. Well, if you ever get the chance please post some pics.
