i purchased a male guyana from a well known breeder last year. This being my first guyana, i was wondering what kind of growth should i be seeing. Like i said before he is 1 year old and just over 3 foot. I have a columbian that at 1 year she was easy 4 foot. My guyana eats every 7 days and looks and acts just fine. Any knowledge about size/age would be helpful. How about at 2 or 3 years old?

I have never owned one but I have herd that they realy put on the weight on the 2nd year.. It should be around 6' by the third year/end of the second year.. The irradecents will realy come through by end of this year too... You are about to have the most butiful animal... Well have fun with that one..

In my experiance true redtails grow slower then BCI. My female Guyana didn't start packing on the girth until she was 2.5 to 3 years old.

I picked-up my Guyana about a year ago (will be in February) and he turned a year-old in the end of December, and to share some info, my guy is 3'7" and he eats, well, whenever he wants (ohk, about every week-and-a-half, a juvenille - aka medium - rat). When I got him, he was just under 2' (probably 1'8") and grows in spurts... during this past summer he rew quite a bit, and then this pas month or two as well... A lot of it depends on the temp you're keeping him at besides the feedings... Higher temps = higher metabolism -> faster growth... got any pics to share? whats his name?

Well i named him "Rover". I have this thing about naming my snakes kind of off the wall names. I also have a columbian boa named "rose", and a jungle carpet named "daisy". Well my guyana seems to be growing on the same pase, i keep records of sheds. He seems to shed about every 2 months. I dont have any pics but he is really a nice looking boa. I will try to get a pic up as soon as i can.

You know what mine Guyanese Boa's name is ? "Mr. Snake". Heh, orginial huh? When I brought him home, I just started calling him Mr. Snake, or "Snakey", so it kinda stuck and everyone now calls him Mr. Snake, hehaha. Yours sheds every 2 months... hmm, mine sheds maybe a little more often, but again depending on temperatures and such, also like I said he's had two growth spurts at which point he shed twice in two and a half months, so... Can't wait to see some pics and compare (that is, once I have some too !).
