We need info on breeding these boas. It seems no matter how hard we try we can't find anyone who knows much on this subject. Breedable size? Breedable age? Length? Cooling or photoperiod requirements? Please help!!! :-/

although i havent bred my braz amaral yet (only 1 and too young) i would figure it would be very similar to the rest of the south american boas.

i have bred plenty of bci and once with bcc and did nothing different.

the boa constrictor manual has a great breeding section by our very own boaphile! i read that and had plenty of successful breedings.

another great book is the reproductive husbandryof pythins and boas, by ross and marzec! full of info and many, many breeding strategies!

both are a must have. they will answere all (or most) of your questions)

Hey edntraci,
You could try to e-mail Vin Russo at Cutting Edge Herp, he is currently working on some breeding projects for Brazilian Amarili. I'm sure he would be glad to answer some of your questions. Here is the web-site:

Good Luck.

Another very good source of info on breeding brazillian BCA's would be Barry Miller at Miller Reptiles. He has the most gorgeous Brazillian BCAs I have ever seen. Even their medallions seem to bleed red onto the bodies. Even if you just want to look at some beautiful snakes, his website is tops.
You can sheck him out at millerreptiles.com. Its well worth it. ;D >:(
