Hello!!
Just wanted to share a photo of my little Brazilian Rainbow ... he was born in February, and I got him from EBV in California. He is an awesome little dude!! Of course, I am very prejudiced ... but I would love to hear from other BRB people, and compare kids!!

Brazilian Rainbow Boa,
My name is Christina and I live in South San Francisco, ca. I just wanted to let you know your BRB is beautiful. I have a BRB for over three years now. I also get all my reptiles at the East Bay Vivariam. I think my pics are to large to download onto this, but here is my web site to check out my homepage

Nice BRB, Sssnakemom! ;D
I just got my first on August 5th.
They never fail to amaze me.
They're just so damn cute! lol
Boa Dan,
They aren't too hard to take care of, but do take quite a bit more attention than a corn. Especially babies, which is what I'm trying now.
I need to change ALL the substrate every weekend to combat mold growth. I need to mist every day to keep it at least above 70%. A big water bowl on top of an undertank heatmat helps. I also keep a moss box so that if it drops during the day, she has a place to retreat to.
They are fairly picky about their Temps. also.
75-85 degrees gradient f is pretty good.
From what I have read, below 70 or above 85 for extended periods of time are just asking for big trouble.
They are voracious little eaters, be prepared.
Mine downs a rat pinky a week without missing a beat.
I got lucky, my baby isn't nippy, but they do have a reputation for being that way when young. But gentle handling will help with that.
All in all, they aren't extremely difficult, but as I said take a bit more of your time and attention to thrive. But as I rationalized to myself, it's all worth it for a healthy (eventually) adult Rainbow Boa. It's hard to beat how awesome they look. :)
Hope that helps a bit. I'm obviously no expert, but I do read alot. Lol.

Oops, almost forgot.
Other suggestions for a second snake that doesn't require too much include Kingsnakes, Milksnakes, and Ball Pythons.
I have a King and a Ball, no Milks.
They all have their own little differences though.
Most Kings from the west (California, Desert, Mexican Blacks)
need little humidity (as opposed to BRB's), or they develop respiratory problems. They can be a little grouchy. And make sure you don't smell like another snake(or a mouse..lol) when sticking your hand near it, as Kings can be cannibals.
Balls need fairly high humidity.
Not as high as BRB's, but at least 60%, I'd guess.
Otherwise they have shedding problems. I've run into this a couple times. I started using a mossbox for her also, after I saw how well it worked for the BRB. Also, when getting a Ball, it's pretty crucial to insure you're getting Captive Bred.
Wilds are notorious for starving themselves to death in captivity.
Hope that helps. ;D
Sssnakemom, I'm going to take some pics of my BRB so we can compare. :'(

Give it about a week to get used to its new home before you try to touch or feed it.
