HI,
Iwas feeding my smaller male Guyana in the cage in a feed box its rather small but it keeps him away from the female when they feed. After feeding I usally pop the lid of the feed box in the cage and he usally hangs there a couple more days till he decide to go explore or what ever they do.
His sweet heart came a calling on him during the nite post feeding I hope they behaved them selves ::) :-X...

Not sure how big they will get but my guess is they are both almost 7 ft now..I held Holley's mom before she was re-sold at a petstore and my holleyesd way prettier Guyana I believe her mom was about 10 ft at 5 y/o She's now a breeder up in the williamsberg area not sure of the owner just missed buying her parents by about 15 mins dang nab it...

HI,
One last plug for BCC , I read all over the net how aggresive and sickly the BCC species can be . I ve never had problems with my two the 3 years I ve owned them. And they are the most shy and docile snakes I own the male actually hides his head like a BP when out of the cage.http://www.redtailboas.com/albums/album42/Rudee_hangin_on.thumb.jpg

My guess is a few years ago they where all wild caught and the (Problem Label)  :-/stil applies.
If you want a large Boa and have the room and a cage they are the sweetest species  of snakes I own. Just be sure to buy CB/BCC :'(
  My 2 cents...

HI,
Thanks the cage is a one of a kind built for me by a carpenter, I wanted the Maximum available floor space for the boa's that allow some movement up and down which after it was built allows considerable temp gradients even with the two 100 watt che's and I added two infared heat mats to the bottom shelf this heat s the first floor slightly and the che's raise the temps on the first floor considerably while warming the first floor with heat that passes thru openings in the shelf under the che's
The heat cycles off one thermostat and I shoot for 84 ambients with much warmer infared reading on the top floor around the che's  I bought a gun to measure the temps to be sure its ok 18 bucks at the radioshack I now check all my cage and thermometers and helps me to understand the differences in cages and heat.
. The female loves the top floor in the very back probably almost 90  and very dark hide like a at times the bottom floor is the males ( he's probably protecting his sperm instinctively by not over heating.) It an important Guy thing hehe
The vents are deseigned with slidding plexi-glass this allow controled ventilation this prevents loss of humidity the location of the vents near the florr prevents additional heat loss and that chimney effect that can occur with open tops on cages. . The wood is select russian birch with formica applied to the entire insides if the pee or poo occurs and misses the newspaper a damp  paper towel and its squeeky clean and this cage weighs a lot but is on 6 huge coasters It breaks down into pieces and can be dissasembled if it must be moved its to large to go through a door. The cage uses very little heat it cycles maybe twice and hour for about 1 min thsi si saving me considerable money or electricity it uses less heat than any cag I own..
It was 700+ and the builder delivered it because shipping would have been 200+ he lives in arlington VA
I love it the snakes love it if the Guyana reach 12 ft who cares this cage could hold a burm. this was to be the last cage for the GUyana as long as I live because my life expectancy is less that theirs. :(. hehe

Its 6 ft  by 38 in deep with two floors.
that some square ft ...

if the back of the cage is soiled I use a wash cloth and a brush on a stick to remove all traces of urates if it makes it to the formica.

I had hoped to Buy and build another to stack on this one as a breeder cage. But I have decided to only keep 5 snakes at this time in my life.

ps it was sort of my brain :P child and Iam a little proud of it ( the cage) I think its the perfect breeder cage for Boa's BCC or BCI

I love those temp guns from Radio Shack. I use them on my RC trucks and buggies to check the heat of the engine for tuning. I never thought about using it for my snake cages. Interesting, let me go play a little...
