I see this stuff posted all the time and it bothers me. Hybrid boa constrictors. How can it be a hybrid? How does a boa constrictor from Peru bred to a boa constrictor from Suriname produce a hybrid? It is a boa constrictor breeding another boa constrictor so, how does that make a hybrid boa? I am confused ???

How about this, breeding a hogg island boa to a suri. Would this be a hybrid? I don't see why it would. Both animals are boa constrictors right? Sure the hogg island would have to take a boat right to the mainland, but I don't see how that would produce hybrid boas.

It would be more like an intergrade or locality cross, but hybrids, I don't think so.

Now, say a dumerils boa breed to a boa constrictor would make a hybrid or perhaps a sanzinia breed to a boa constrictor would = a hybrid. But intergrade would probably fit the bill a little better.

I mean just because one boa is from locality then another, I don't think that is a hybrid. I don't even think that would qualify for "intergrade" but rather just a locality cross..

However, does this mean I am going to cross a hogg with a guyanan? NO! Why would I? That would be insane, at least I think so...

Just my 2 cents...

its a hybrid because take as an example a Hogg with a Suri...the Hogg is BCI and the Suri is BCC they are different subspecies ...same with a Guyanan....But if you were to breed a Suri to a Guyanan that would be an intergrade (IMO) because of crossing the natural locales of the snakes because each local has some subtle and not so subtle diffences...But they are from the same family of snakes Boa Constrictor.....Now In the case of crossing a Dumerils and a Columbian that wouldnt work at all becuase the dumerils boa isnt a memeber of the Boa Constrictor family they are a totally different species....Dumerilli something..I cant remember the scientific name of the dumerils though....But trying to cross the 2 different species isnt possible to the best of my knowledge...But I could be wrong....
