Hi everyone, My temperature in my vivarium is between 90 to 95 F (32 to 35 C) , I'm not capable to reduce it. The lower I can have is 87 F but it's for the night. The petshop where I bought my rats, said to me that this temperature can make my snake die or have lung problems. Is it true? I put big bowl of water so the temperature can reduce. Do you think it's gonna work?

Can I open my windows in the house with no danger because I'm scared for the wind come in! You know what I mean?

Please answer me fast so I can breathe normally! lol

Open the windows, turn off the lights and heat, cool water is great, or make a swampcooler, Take a bucket of ice and a fan and point the fan so it blows accross the ice. (in the room and not directly at the boas)

I dont understand why you cant lower your ambient temps.

What are you using for heat? Flex, bulb, UTH, etc.

The water in a larger bowl will help, if your using a paper substrate you could switch to aspen, this will also lower your ambient a touch. keep in mind the higher your humidity the lower your ambient will be with the same set-up.

Back to why you cant lower your ambient, what type of enclosure are you using? is it possible to drill some holes for ventilation? This if your room temps are in the mid 70's would help considerably. If it is possible to drill about a dozen 3/8-1/4" holes on both sides of your enclosure, this should help considerably.

What are the temps in your room? You should see roughly a 3-5 degree drop in ambient temperature for every ten degrees your room temp falls. This however only works within 65-85 degree room temps, it is also not an exact science.

Good luck try a few of these things and let us know..

get a rheostat, it will turn off the heat devices when they get too hot, and turn them on again automatically if it gets too cold...
:'( good luck

If you don't have one get one, you need a thermostat. If you go to www.reptiledirect.com they have one from ESU that works great for only $25, I use them until I can get more Helix.
