The first ovulation of the year was a top secret breeding with a female I have never posted any pictures of... She was bred by a male that has made some of the most unBOAlievable babies I have ever produced. She ovulated Feb. 4, 2005, her P.O.S. was Feb. 22, 2005. She is due to give birth June 7, 2005. We shall see... we shall see...

Her due date is only 3 days away now. Seems like I have been waiting for years! She isn't restless at all yet. I'll just have to keep waiting and waiting... This litter, by the way, assuming we get live babies, will mark the 20th year in a row I have produced baby Boa Constrictors. I know I am bragging and I am very proud of it! HA!

3 more days...

I hope it works out as well... sort of. What I mean is, there is a possibility that it will have to continue to remain secret. That would be the pits wouldn't it? I'm just not sure what to do or say or ... I don't know. I am pretty sure we will get a good litter. What exactly we will get I can't predict. Will I be able to show the results regardless of what happens? I know not. I will have to decide sometime I guess but right now all I can do is look ahead and worry.

Wow Jeff! That sounds like an awful large burden for a man to carry around! If you need someone to lend an ear and give moral support email me:

      Ty@ratracesolutions.com

I'll be more than glad to listen and I promise not to tell. It sounds like you are trying something crazy like a snowglow or a T+ and kahl albino all in one. Wouldn't they look exactly like a snow and an albino? Anyway, give me a shout! :'(

It sounds like area 51 moved from nevada to minnesota with all this secret stuff going on. Before you know it, you will have boa hounds looking in through your facility windows from a distance with binoculars and telescopes trying to see whats going on in there. I think i saw a blue boa! No! It had two heads! Wait.... It was an alien boa! Instead of Groom Lake, its now Groom Ronne.....

Later,
Drenton

I was thinking it was more like Willie Wonka's Everlasting Gobstopper...

OK it is the 7th.......... Where are they and do we get to see?? I can't wait to see those babies. I hope you don't make us wait long. Any signs of her going into labor yet?? I am not the proud parent and I am on pins and needles. I can't even begin to guess how you all feel when a mama is gravid. Good luck! Shannon

Nothing yet. She is still all coiled up in the heat conservation position soaking up that heat. She will need to start tearing up the cage before she drops. I am looking forward to that but she hasn't done it so far. Time will tell...

They were born last night. Day 108 after the POS. 18 or 20 of them. The breeding did not turn out as I had hoped so the secret will be out of the bag very shortly. Very cool babies but still not what I had been hoping for. Oh well... However, this litter does mark the 20th year in a row that I have had the good fortune of having baby Boas born under my care. That is pretty cool.

Congrtatulations on 20 VERY successful years, Jeff.

Sorry the litter did not turn out as you had hoped....you may just have to keep them all and breed them back together. :(

At least there were some healthy babies born.

Denny ;D

This breeding was using two very special animals. Both parents were produced by the Matriarch of all Hypos. The female that Dr. David Hardy has had since the early 80's. She is the original Hypo Boa from Panama. Details about this are in the sticky post in this section of the forum listed as:

http://www.theboaforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=boapics1;action=display;num=1014309917

The male is about 15 years old. An old timer. He is also the Father of the first Pearlescent Boa we produced in 2000.

Here he was right after birth. See him at the back of the mess?

http://www.theboaforum.com/forumpics/pearlescent2000litter.jpg

This was him after he shed:

http://www.theboaphile.com/screamers.jpg

Anyhow we bred him in 2000 to the Monster Tail proving it to be genetic. Probably a dominant or co-dominant trait. Here are some of his babies from that breeding:

http://www.theboaforum.com/forumpics/pearl4web.jpg

Anyhow, I did not know where the inverse tail pattern came from. I guess technically I still don't know for sure. I presume that much of what has made the Pearlescent Boas the wild and beautiful animals they are has been contributed by the Pastels they have been produced from. We don't know that for sure but who really cares so long as we can make lots lots more Pearlescents right? However, the female he bred is also a baby produced by Dr. David Hardy from the same mother. She is about 5 years old. A pretty dark Hypo but one with a nice inverse tail stripe. No Pearlescent sides but the big inverse stripe. Needless to say we were hoping to make a mess of babies with the inverse tail stripe and maybe something even more outrageous. Unfortunately we did not have any inverse tail striped babies. 20 babies in all. 13 of them Hypos. Some really nice looking animals in there and a couple with some goofy patterns. So given the fact that the father of the original Pearlescent male bred this female, and she didn't have any with the inverse tail stripe leads me to believe this tail stripe is not the same genetically as the Pearlescent babies we have produced so far. At least it doesn't look like it right now.

Hey Mr Ronne;
You might not have gotten what were looking for, but you got some nice kids none the less!
Congrats and remember what the Stones said.
"You can`t always get what you want.
But if you try some times.
You`ll find you get what you need"
Congrats again on your 20th boanniversary :'(
