I recently bought ababy red tail from my local pet store, and before picking one I checked its feeding habits etc, etc. Upon further inspectin when I got home I noticed a few mites on him or her. I went back today to buy some Mit-rx only to find out that they took it off the shelf because it was dangerous to the snake. They suggested I soak him in water with Vegetable oil or just wipe him with the oil. I have never heard of doing this before. Is it OK to do? And if not any suggestions on what else works? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
I have used that method on some wc Ball Pythons a few years ago. It worked but I believe there are better ways. Go the the link below. It has a lot of good information.
