I'm thinking about switching my boas from rats over to rabbits.would thay be better for the boas? I hear thay put wieght on them faster than the ratscwm15.gif Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also how big of a rabbit would a 6ft boa eat? How about a 7-8ft boa?

My boa will eat rabbits when I can get them. He is about 6 and a half foot and will take a small rabbit with out problems. This rabbit will last 2-3 weeks before its lunch time again, although my boa sometimes thinks he should eat before then :)

The last rabbit I bought cost me 10.00 and 2 large or jumbo rats cost about 12.00.

The only problem with feeding rabbits is the killing-them-and-feeding-to-your-boa part. cwm6.gif

Chris I have found that feeding a boa the largest food item they can handle will bring a boa back into heavy groth, maybe it's to accomidate the size of the prey animal that doesn't mean to get crazy and power feed your boa 5 pound rabbits but slowly increase the size over time at 6' I would recomend 1.5 pound rabbits if she is a robust animal. I never powerfeed any snake but the large prey items have made me some huge boas (9 to 10') and pythons (13' and up) I also would recomend that you vary the diet keep feeding rats on occasion. As for your second question I have a 9' albino boa that will take 5 to 6 pound farm freyers rabbits and chickens ( ckickens are the ultimate weight gainer for boas but i would reccomend raising them your self) I hope that helps
