My male boa has a funny eating habit. He just two large rats after not eating for 73 days. Now it has been over 16 days and he has no interest in eating again. I don't want to wait another 73 days for him to eat. To get him to eat after not eating for 73 days, I had to take him to the vet and get a dose of Pancur and Flagyl and two weeks later another dose of Pancur and Flagyl and then he ate after that. Now he will not eat again. He usually eats every 14 days. Maybe he will eat at the three week mark. Has anyone ever seen this type of eating habit? What could be wrong with him?

Hi,
Yes its sounds like he's love sick.. 8). hehehe...
Is he in a room that has an adult female snake.. If so, Ive read somewhere that snakes can give off phermones ??(please donot take off for spelling) that send that amour :D signals to the male to come find me you fool. s13.gif.
talk to jeff i think he had to move a love sick male to another room to get him to eat after a couple months.
good luck Doug just a wild guess.

Can you provide a little more details such as the animals size/age, temp ranges and how long the little guy has been feeding like this.

Try moving your male to a different location as well as a different substrate . Sometimes a smaller enclosure seems to work with cypress mulch .Think boas native habitat I.e. humidity , heat, light cycles , substrate as well as hide box .Also different prey items live and prekilled . Hope this helps .
