Good luck with your new Boa... b27.gif I always feed my boas in a rubbermade container...Due to the same reason your asking ....I dont want to get bit... s17.gifI wonder how most people feed on this fourm in or out of the cage.. b10.gifI know if you have alot of boas then probably in the cage due to time involved in feeding...(less stress also)... s35.gif

I have only one boa and several other snakes. When I feed my boa i feed in the tank. Just because I don't want to feed her and then handle her by moving her back in to the tank. I have and she regurgitates.

I feed in the enclosure, just remember to take the snakes out with a hook and not your hand when you are going to handle them

I feed in the enclosure as well, strictly because if I feed anywhere else, that just means I have to pick up the boa and move them back into their enclosure. And with many lessons learned, once you feed a boa, not only do you take a HUGE chance of regurgitation from messing with it after it just ate, but you also take a serious risk of getting chomped on, they still have that attack mode frame of mind. My boas don't get touched at all for at least 24 hours after feeding. The only way I reach my hand in there after feeding is it something is spilt over, or if it's time for the pooper scooper...I could be way wrong, but the way I see it is your momma always said don't go swimming for an hour after you eat, well, I don't touch my boas for a while after they eat.

my 2 cents
I also feed in the enclosure for a number of reason one is when your snakes gets larger it becomes a pain in the A$% and if you follow safe handeling procdures you shouldn't get bit when you handle her. What I find helps is feeding with tongs and not your hand so the snake will get used to tongs meaning food and not your hand, and it's also good to use a hook to pick her up anyways. ;D
