View Full Version : scale problem
some of my boas scales are starting to peel upward and i dont know why. i searched a few books and on the internet and cant find anything. could it be not enough exercise, low humidity, to small of hide box? I noticed it when i moved my snakes from my room to the finished basement. none of my other snakes have this problem. he is the oldest at 2 years. thank you to anyone that can help me!

Peeling upwards doesn't sound good, but boas will get some scale tips that get bent just slightly like a crease in your pants or wrinkles, a pic would help.
its just the tips but they are in a few spots.maybe i sould have been more clear. the whole scale isn't peeling off, just the tips are lifting up. i wish i could send pics but i have no way of doing that yet. do they ever go away because its not really attractive

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don"t it's just like people geting a wrinkle, shows they have been around. How big is your boa?
about 3 1/2 - 4 foot and he's going to be 2
Are they in lines... like from the top of the snake to the bottom(top=back bone- bottom=ventral scales) Then it is no problem... I have found that when my boa stoped useing the hidi box they went away... I think it has to do with the dang things sitting in one places for like ever.. A pic would be good but if they are turning color they I think that it is fine...
