i recently inherited a 7 year old red-tail boa and it doesn't seem very fond of me (or anyone else for that matter)...it's about 6.5 feet long and nearly 20 pounds and rather hard to handle...it doesn't seem to want to bite, it just kinda thrashes about when handled...is this a common problem when a snake changes owners or is it something i'm doing (or not doing)...from what i've read so far it seems to be eating appropriately...i am willing to spend the time handling him (or her) if i know it will become more familiar with strangers...please help, it's a beautiful creature and i hate seeing it in distress cwm25.gif

I would guess that this snake wasn't handled much and this is just its typical behavior. Since it isn't biting just hold it as much as possible for a while and see if it lessens! :'(

Another trick is to throw a sweaty t-shirt of yours in its viv, so that it gets used to your sent and feels safe around you.
