My vet recommends I switch from 10% bleach water to chlorhexiderm due to the residual nature of bleach. What are the advantages of using chlorhexiderm?

If you are referring to chlorhexidine (Nolvasan) then we have been using, it without any problems, for a couple years now.  It can be ordered from a herp supply (we use bean farm) or usually picked up at a reptile show!

Chlorohexidine is the active ingredient in Chlorhexiderm. What advantages do see by using it as opposed to using bleach water?

It doesn't leave any smell, it is harmless and is an excellent anti-bacterial. It is not as cheap as bleach by any means, but a little goes a long way. It is mixed at 2 tbsp per gallon of water. It is also a very common cleaning disinfectant in vets offices and used for cleaning wounds. I think the biggest advantage is the safety factor, no fumes or harmful residue.

yeah, it's much lower in the nasty factor than bleach, but does an amazing job cleaning... and bean farm has a good deal on the gallon of concentrate, that'll last you for a looooooooong time. well worth the switch imho.
