I have a pair of normal bci's that are rescues from the spca here.. (male and female)

My question is ..

This pair has been housed together for the longest time. When I recieved them I separated them before breeding season. Then I re-introduced them. Now the female is big ...but I did not witness the "deed" happening. To me it seems like they are a couple. He is always on her but no action. I have seen a couple of times where they have slept seperately. So by them being caged together for so long before the breeding season.. would that affect there breeding during the season? If so .. when should I pull out the male.?

Any help would be great...

Thanks,
rottie

Leave them together. Everything sounds good so far to me. You may have a sneaky breeder in that male. Some sneak in and out without your seeing them do much. That's not the norm but might be this males mode of operation. Keep them together and good luck!

If the male in indeed riding her around then that is always a good sign. Don't interrupt that.

Generally when the male is finished doing business, he will completely ignore the female and stay seperated from her.
