View Full Version : Genetics Question for Ronne
cwm10.gif Male dou-het for snow boa crossed with a female genetic striped boa 66%het albino....I know I get albino's, if I hit...But what else, how do those genetics fall on the normal babies and albinos..I keep telling myself
100%het albino
100%het stripe
50%het anery
50% het snow
I'm confused with this breeding..I need exact numbers here....Or I'm still gonna be lost.......Thanks cwm1.gif

I'll Take a stab at this one. :-)
These numbers assume your 66% het albino proves to be het.
All babies are definate Het for Stripe:
1/4 of the babies are Albino, 50% chance het for anery.
3/4 of the babies are normal looking, 66% chance het for albino, 50% chance het for anery. (33% chance Triple Het)
I am looking for a really easy way to post the punnett square that I use to get this.. I have yet to find one.

Here is what you get if the female is not a het for Albino. You have a 33% chance of this being the case:
The offspring will be:
50% possible het albino
100% het stripe (Although het or stripped doesn't work like a dominant or recessive trait. It's in a world all it's own. It is not very predictable.)
50% possible het anery
25% possible double het snow
Here is what you get if the female is a het for Albino. You have a 66% chance of this being the case:
The offspring will be:
25% of them will be Albino
66% of which will be het for Anerythristic
The Normals will be:
66% possible het albino
100%het stripe (Although het or stripped doesn't work like a dominant or recessive trait. It's in a world all it's own. It is not very predictable.)
50% possible het anery
33% possible double het snow

I'm going to quote myself:
All babies are definate Het for Stripe:
That means that all of those other numbers that I gave you are ALSO het for stripe. You could produce 1/4 of your babies that are Albino Het for Stripe 50% pos het for striped snow.
And I am not jeff, but my numbers are right. ;-)

According to the Advanced Genetics Wizard site, it says you will have....
12.5% Het. Stripe,
12.5% Het. Stripe, Het. Anery,
25% Het. Stripe, Het. Albino,
25% Het. Stripe, Het. Albino, Het. Anery,
12.5% Het. Stripe, Homozygous Albino,
12.5% Het. Stripe, Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery

That's right dragons182, but the 2 albinos look the same so you can't tell which one is the Anery... That gives you:
25% Het Stripe, Homozygous Albino, 50% pos het anery.
And all the ones that are not albino look the same so you end up with:
75% Het Stripe, 66% pos het albino, 50% pos het anery (33% het stripe, albino, & anery.)
