first off, i'm new to the board. i've been reading what you all have to say, and i must say, you are all so smart about your pets. i am trying hard to learn as much as i can about my 2 boas, too. but i have some questions.

??? i have some questions about breeding, i have never done it before. (ok, for any of you that may be perverts... i meant bred snakes! hehehe) as a matter of fact, i have only been a snake owner for about a year and a half now (i aquired them through marriage =)!)

my husband has been ready to breed for a while now, and i am now ready too. i'm learning that there's so much more to it than i ever could have imagined! as far as i know, they are both old enough, so here's some questions that i have:

should i keep my male and female seperate all the time except for when encouraging copulation?

my male is about a foot longer and much thicker in girth than my female. does that matter?

what are obvious signs of ovulation?

and last, what is some good reading material i can get my hands on?

i have colombian boas, if that helps.

thanks for any and all info you can share!

I would recommend checking the breeding section on the Boaphile's website, it pretty much covers everything you need to know! www.theboaphile.com You can also check out the Boa Constrictor Manual, it's handy to have around and Jeff wrote the breeding section. Jeff also has a Boa Breeding video that helped me tremendously, I highly recommend it! Good Luck with your breeding attempts! :)
