Hello everyone,
I have posted about this Snake on the Kingsnake.com forum but this is my first time posting here.
I have a gravid Hog Island Boa that I believe was due (105 days after post ovulation shed) May 15th, I was an idiot and did not mark the date down on the calendar. Its now July 6th and she looks like she is going to explode, I am very concerned about her. This is her first litter (mine also!) so I am not really sure what to expect. I called around and the only Vets in my state that will look at her are very far away, I have no problem at all taking her but I don't even know if that’s what I should be looking into right now.
I noticed a few days ago a small amount of feces in her cage, she has not eaten in a good 2.5 months. I was wondering if constipation can be holding things up, and if so is it okay to soak a gravid boa in warm water to maybe losen her up a bit?
My major dilemma is that next week I am going to be out of town. I am terrified that she will give birth while I am away and I will lose the babies or that something else will happen with her and I won't be around to take whatever actions need to be taken.
What do you guys think I should do? Should I be thinking about taking her for an ultrasound? Thanks so much for reading this far down and any advise anyone has to offer.
 Sincerely,
       Justin

Whatever you observed long ago and thought was ovulation could have been only a preovulation swell. Ovulation likely took place sometime after that time. I have spoken with many many people who have reviewed old notes and been able to recalculate their due date based on a shed after the previously believed Post Ovulation Shed. Try that one. If you did not record the subsequent date... oh well. You'll just have to bite your nails. b27.gif
