Hello everyone,
I have posted about this Snake on the Kingsnake.com forum but this is my first time posting here.
I have a gravid Hog Island Boa that I believe was due (105 days after post ovulation shed) May 15th, I was an idiot and did not mark the date down on the calendar. Its now July 6th and she looks like she is going to explode, I am very concerned about her. This is her first litter (mine also!) so I am not really sure what to expect. I called around and the only Vets in my state that will look at her are very far away, I have no problem at all taking her but I don't even know if that’s what I should be looking into right now.
I noticed a few days ago a small amount of feces in her cage, she has not eaten in a good 2.5 months. I was wondering if constipation can be holding things up, and if so is it okay to soak a gravid boa in warm water to maybe losen her up a bit?
My major dilemma is that next week I am going to be out of town. I am terrified that she will give birth while I am away and I will lose the babies or that something else will happen with her and I won't be around to take whatever actions need to be taken.
What do you guys think I should do? Should I be thinking about taking her for an ultrasound? Thanks so much for reading this far down and any advise anyone has to offer.
Sincerely,
Justin
