I recently bought a female red tail, and after putting her into quarrantine, I put her in with my 6 foot male. (She is 7 feet) Within a week, I noticed that they were "doing it" They were aligned, and he was in her. Not trying to be too blunt. They were "doing it" off and on for a couple weeks. She is getting bigger in the middle. I took him out and fed him. Now she is going through a shed.
I guess I don't really understand the "post ovulatuion shed" and all the terms in the book. Does this mean she is already gravid, or should I put him back in to pursue.
I don't really understand the "egg forming".
Please explain.

heya,
the way it has been explained to me is that the male will lose interest in the female along with a shed that takes a few days longer than normal. one is to begin counting from the shed date....I think it's 104 days. the swelling should be the shape of a football about 60% down the snake. temps should be raised and I would check with others more knowledgable than me for that, but I think in 86 degree range and have a hot spot available. This all seemed confusing to me at first also. what I found was helpful was to keep a daily log and reveiw it after the whole process was over.I wrote down what I was thinking even though it did not make sense at the time, but later it did.( I rarely make sense immediatly). hope this helps and good luck. by the way congrats. on having the self control to quarantine..great move.
