:-[I am hoping to get Anery boas next year. Does anyone know of any lines that produce screamer Anerys as adults? I want to use the Anerys to produce ghosts and snows but I also want Anerys to keep. Most seem to get dark and ugly with age and I have been told all do. But I have seen some real beauts out there. I was also told it would take 3 years post birth before one can tell whether a boa will stay light or turn dark. I hope to get nice boas that will stay light for life and I don't know how to go about it or whom to buy from. cwm25.gif

your biggest clue on what a baby anery will look like as an adult will be looking at the parents. There are some dirty looking anerys, but a clean anery is nice. One of my favorite boas in my collection is a circle back anery male that is truly gray at 6'.

Here is a pic of our Ivory anerythristic at about 6 months old produced by Erich Gaertner......

And here she is around 18 months old....

She's nowhere close to three years old yet, but her lightness seems to be holding strong. The first time we attempt to breed her will be to a double het for ghost produced by none other than the Boaphile himself. And that's probably going to be at least a couple of years from now. Somewhere down the line after that we hope to breed our new East Bay Vivarium red group X hypo to her to produce some double hets for ghost of our own.
Good luck in your anery search! Have patience, and you will eventually find what you are looking for..... :'(

I have two anerys, one is 2 years old and over five foot. She is still silver and black, with just a slight hint of yellow. I also have a 8 foot anery and she has just a slight hint of brown to her. I think it really just comes down to luck if you get a baby, sometimes they brown out and sometimes they don't.

I think Anerys will get better with time. As people continue to selectively breed their Anerys into light bloodlines such as the Pastel and other washed out Anerys they will look sweeter and sweeter. I would suggest you try getting your hands on a ivory Boa from Jeff or someone else who will be producing them. This will definitely improve your chances of obtaining a real nice animal that hold it's light coloring into adulthood. But it is my experience that all boas darken with age... so some degree of darkening is inevitable.
Good Luck,
Oz
That is a beautiful animal, anerys are one of the prettiest morphs available I'm don't know why they arn't as popular.

I have the buckskin color type 2 anerys. I agree that the washed out silver phase anerys look nicer, but mine get the job done. All my dh ghosts are coming from that bloodline. I feel because of the darker tail saddles on my type 2 anerys, that the ghosts produced from the bloodline will be extremely high contrast and differ greatly from the anery-look, which many of the ghosts produced thus far have. Anerys rock period!! b18.gif
