Here is the first Hogg Island Boa I have ever seen born! First one in the litter too! The whole litter took about 15 minutes. It's no wonder I haven't seen it before. Their Momma cleared out the whole corner for the little buggers. Here is the first one!

This is the second litter of Hoggs this year. Both females bred by the same male. A much nicer male than last year and the babies show it. Here is the babies that were born about two weeks ago. Cousins as the two females are sisters and half siblings as they all have the same Father.

Hey! Two's company but three's a crowd!

Too bad Momma had her butt pointing in the corner the whole time:

Just like a little walk in the park you know:

A long shot at the scene:

Look at this really close shot of a baby being born whose membrane has not ruptured yet! Cool picture huh!? You can very clearly see one of Mom's spurs too. My seven year old Daughter Christina did not think this was cool at all... trust me:

I think it is great though.
Then this morning I figured I'd take a look as see how the mess was looking. Look what Mom had done to the babies sitting in the corner:
Same corner. She had just managed instead of pushing all the babies around like Colombians do to push the Aspen all over them coving them up. This is what my Hoggs have done every time I have had them. They bury them and you have to sift through the Aspen to find those babies. I counted them and a number of them were still inside their membrane under this pile of Aspen. 12 more little Hoggs and my very first Hogg Island Boa SLUG! First one! I didn't think they could have slugs?

A little close up of this one little baby doing the opposite of what an Ostrich will do to hide. Isn't this cute!?:

by the way in case I didn't mention it, Hoggs are the easiest of all the Boas to breed. All I did to breed this second female was walk by her cage with the male. I told him she was ripe for the picking just like her sister that he had just finished breeding and that was all it took. I didn't even have to put them together. Just showed her to him and BOOM! She was gravid! I didn't even see her ovulate! UnBOAlievable!

Mr. Ronne in that second pic from the top, the pile of babies picture, are those little shed skins to the right of the babies already?

The babies at the top were born July 3rd. Remember the Hogg litter that went my own personal record of 117 days P.O.S.? These babies are the same ones born just 24 hours ago. They will not shed for another nine days or so.
Hoggs are so cute.Nice job Jeff.

Wow! They are so beautiful! I am so looking forward to my litter! My oldest hog is now pregnant! Don't know for how long she has been but I am guessing she will give birth in september (when I am in the states :-/)
Good to hear that they never get slugs:)
