i was thinking of buying another red tail boa from my buddy since he is selling them at a irresistable price. but i want to get one of each male and female. i plan on keeping them together most of the time unless it is feeding time of course. but if they do breed will they be fine or will they be deformed?

How many generation have they been inbred. I heard they can inbreed up to 6 without any mutation. MHO

Inbreeding and line breeding (when you breed the father to one of his female neos, or mother to one of her male neos) is quite common in this industry, I do not see it as a "severe" problem to your neos, but do not do it for very many generations because any flaws in the genetic makeup will begin to show up, such as the eye problem that the albino boas seem to have..That is one reason why alot of people will emphasize if the snakes they are selling are from differant litters, so it will strengthen the gene pool. thanks for the advise. so lets see if i got this right it is ok if they happen to breed once but not to let them too many times or deformation will be a result!!

to get back to kryolla's question. i know the mother and father of these are from different litters. so as far as i know they have not been inbred at all!!
