I am getting a pair of albino boas het for striped from Peter Kahl and was wondering if it is okay to keep them together for the first couple of years or so? I have a 24" female but it escaped for 2 weeks from a friend and his wife made hime give it to me when she found it crawling on her foot while on the phone. So, I don't want it near my new ones for at least 6 months. I had a female who seemed totally healty for 4 months until she was courted for 2 months and became gravid. She then got sick and died in very quick fashion. I had a necropsy done and she had inclusion body disease. So you can understand my reluctance to put the 2 females together for a while. Any educated info would be appreciated. Thanks!

The snakes your getting from Kahl will be healthy, no worries. If your going to keep them together I would be very careful. After you feed them rinse and wipe them down with water. If they smell pinkie on each other they could try to eat each other, it has happened!!!!!! Those animals are $$$$$ a pair ........ be careful! Sorry to hear about your gravid female, enjoy your new boas I love those. :'(

Why take the chance, set them up in a couple of rubbermaid tubs. Better safe than sorry.

I agree with red. no need to keep them together unless your breeding them.

I also just got a pair of Albinos (See pic forum) and like the guys mentioned above, mine are in small Rubbermaids for the time being (until their new Boaphile cages come in!). IMO it's not worth the risk (for any snakes, especially pricey ones) not to buy a couple $7 bins to keep them in temporarily. Good luck.

Yeah, I have already set up two cages for them and gotten the heat and humidity right. I moved them and my others into a room devoted to them. Thanks for everyone's input!

A room just for the snakes will make life much easyer. Way to go!
