I have just started to buy boas, A friend has two he keeps together all the time. "NOT FOR BREEDING" Suddenly he has baby boas. 20 i guess you call them slugs and 3 live babies, 2 look like mom and dad but one is all white but not like here on the other posts no red or yellows. He said I can have the babies but, Is this a gene fault?????? Will the other two have the same thing. I have never seen a BOA LIKE THIS. Has any one else. Sorry he has had the boas for almost 13 years. He got them from a pet shop in Texas.

THANKS FOR THE HELP.

We will definitely need a picture to be able to tell you what we think. The only possibility I can think of is that the white one is a snow boa (amelanistic/anerythristic), but this is VERY, VERY unlikely. Given that the guy doesn't sound like he knows a lot and the length of time he has had them, it is probably not a true "morph" and is most likely an aberrant normal, perhaps due to temperature fluctuations (since he didn't even know she was gravid). What's everybody else think?

Thank You for the quick replie. Am working on the getting the photo. 6.0 pix dig cam does not want to size down were i can get it to fit and still get detail. I checked on snow, the baby does not have any markings at all just all white no saddles or anything. I just read about snows it said that they have red eyes??? This baby has black well kind of black eyes they are like all differnt colors but real dark. But the baby is really nice looking. I am buying some hets and some albinos, salmons and a few others 20 total. I was told that you add in some unrelated bloodlines the help keep them healthy. But if this is a bad gene I don't want to hurt the other bloodlines and it this one has a bad gene will the other two have it also.

Get those photos and someone can tell you. If it has no pattern at all it could be the first and only leusicistic (spelling?) ever and you could be a rich man! ::) Good luck!

>:(I would like to Thank both of you for your help. I went to check on leusistic:::: at www.pkreptiles.com. Right there on the front page is the baby. All white with no markings and dark eyes. ::) I called my friend and told him that I and going to keep the baby but that any money made, he will get 50%, It is only fair he gave me the snake. Ok frist need to find out if Baby is a boy or girl. Wait what maybe three years and breed. Have been breeding Dogs, Horses and Birds for years, But no snakes???? Does anyone know the gene's for leusistic (res, codom or dom.) If baby is breed to a norm will all babies be het's?????

Any help would be most WELCOME!!!!! I know I will need some help starting a new bloodline.

Friend just called back wants nothing to do with snakes, Just said He is going to give me Mom and Dad too, wants no more Babies!!! Plus Mom just bit him!!!
Have to go help him! She hurt him badly.

If indeed you have a leucistic boa constrictor, you are a very, very, lucky man. As ratman stated, there isn't (at least to my knowledge) another one in existence. (the pic on the PK site is a Ball Python, not a boa). I can't wait to see the pic of this guy!!As for the genetics, no one knows how it would pass to the offspring. Since it hasn't been bred in boas, it could follow any of the known inheritance patterns, or (pessimistically) not be inheritable at all......only time will tell (that's IF this is truly leucism, or another previously undescribed "morph") We'll see!! Get that pic up!!! :'(

Right Herper! That's what I was going to tell him. That was a python he saw on PK's site. If it is a new boa I am jealous!! :-/

If we can see a pic I'm ready for one of the normal looking siblings. Sounds like a winner to me, a leutistic boa would command some serious greenbacks!

Thank you every one!!!!!

Buddy is ok bite looked worse than it really was ::) Right on the face. Ok back to the baby I can not get photo to download, I have a 6.0 meg pix cam and photo shop I do photo shoots for a living. IT will not go down to a size that will fit on this website by the standard. Someone help me here, I build my own computers from the case up why can't i get this ??? Ok Ok I know the snake on the website is a ball. I just was saying that this is how the baby looks. I have people trying to buy the copyright's to all photos of the baby. They say that people will pay to have a photo or a poster of the frist white boa. I don't think that is right. I would rather just let everybody see the photo's and have some fun. I thought this was a all for one and one for website so that everone learns and can do better for their snakes.

thank you

Go to kingsnakes photo gallery and open a free account, then you can post on kingsnakes boa forum, when you get them down below 100 kb's. I can't wait to see this snake, although I am still very skeptical.

Exactly.  I'm always amazed that people like this never have the ability to post a picture.  There's always some sort of problem.

Don't hold your breath.   :o

You have a digital camera.
You have photo shop.
You do photographs for a living.
But you can't size down the picture of your leusistic boa....

p.s. Anyone want to buy a bridge in London? It is for sale. Send your money to me through paypal

FOR THOSE OF YOU GIVING ME A HARD TIME IT'S OK BECAUSE, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT'S OK. BECAUSE I DO!!!!
BY THE WAY WITH A 6 MEG PIX CAM, ONE PHOTO IS ALMOST 8 MEGS NOW WHEN YOU SIZE THAT DOWN TO 105K THE MAX ATTACHMENT SIZE PER THIS WEB SITE!!!! YOU LOSE ALL OF THE PIX AND THE PHOTO IS ALMOST IMPOSSABLE TO SEE.

THANK YOU.

I know what you mean. I had the same problem. If you buy a disposable camera you can have it developed and put on a disk for about $10. :'( Prove 'em all wrong! ;D

I'm not nagging, but on a 6.0megapixel camera (very spendy) you should have the option of changing the quality/size of the picture being taken. (I have a 3.4mp and I can do it on mine quite easily). Try figuring out how it works w/ your cam, we are all dying to see this boa!!!! :'(

There was a tutorial on how to get better pics with less space on here awhile back, search the archives for it, it was called "better pics less room" i think... -fUGE

email me the picture mills@c4fg.org and ill compress it for you, without loosing little, if any quality. -fUGE

If you really do have photoshop AND know how to use it, you can easily post the pic here...After reducing the pic size to about 600X450, you can 'Save for Web' and reduce the quality. This is not a 'photoshoot' so it doesn't have to be perfect..and most can't tell the difference. Easily under 150k

OK, let's end this OK?

We all would love to see pictures of an all white Boa. There are a few problems though that make me question the reality of the claim.

6 mega pixel camera: Anyone spending the big bucks to buy this good of a camera would certainly know how to take a lower resolution picture by simply changing the settings on the camera. This is accomplished very easily. It's a little like someone buying a plane without having a pilot license. It just doesn't happen. You don't buy something that is really expensive that you are not fully capable and ready to use.

8 Megs: OK, email it to me: The_Boaphile@theboaphile.com I have a ten Meg limit on my email box so have at it. Send me the picture of the Boa and I will be happy to resize the image for you and send it back to you so you can post it yourself. Then people would stop questioning whether or not you are telling the truth about this situation.

If you will not: Then please do not play on people's genuine interest and fascination for your own little game OK? It is essentially cruel and does not help to maintain the positive helpful tone we are interested in everyone maintaining here at the Boa ThinkTank.

There are better more constructive ways of getting attention. Attention that isn't essentially negative attention that you are now getting here and will continue to get unless we can see the imaginary Boa. They are imaginary at this time for all of us because we can only imagine it since you have not blessed us with any pictures.

I'm holding my breath waiting for that picture.

Thanks,

Jeff

This is getting just a bit ridiculous.I am tired of waiting for the picture of this boa to magicly appear. If you dont have the picture just say so, but if you do hurry up and put it on already.
