Hypo's are codominant if you have a hypo male or female and breed it to a normal half the litter will be hypo and half will be normal.

Exactly. You know how brown eyes and hair are supposed to be dominant in humans, well it's almost the same, except the hypo gene in boas is "co-dominant." Instead of the gene taking over completely like brown eyes in humans to produce babies who all have brown eyes, it only takes over half of the babies in boas and produces clutches of babies where half have the hypo gene. It is really not to difficult, but when you get into Double hets with the hypo gene, it gets a little harder. You can check out the following link to maybe help you out a bit more. Good luck. :'(

i understand all that but what i was really getting at was with out a hypo femal or male how does this gene show up? im very new to genetics and would love to learn more , the more i read and the more i talk to people the more i want to learn. im not understanding the where part. how does this mutation happen . is it a recesive gene in nature or was it man created? like i said i was really trying to know what 2 snakes would produce this gene without having a hypo. sorry if i sound ignorant but like i said im very new to this.

Oh, the gene occured in nature in southern hemisphere and from what I understand, because it is co-dominant, it spread fairly well in the areas that it had shown up in. But no, it is not man-made.
