hey all, went to the daytona expo and it was geat to see all the top breeders and all the amazing diffrent snakes. ok on to the question i bought 2 hets from P.K. ,
male is the offspring of jungle X albino pos het stripe
femal is offspring of albino pos het stripe X jungle.
so the offspring are het albino pos het stripe, so what i am asking is what is the poss offspring of these 2? and what is the poss of the jungle morph showing up in there offsprin?

Well.... jungle is a dominent trait meaning if you don't see it it's not there... so there's no chance of it "showing up"... sorry... unless one of the jungles looked really normal (which happened initially, they thought it was a recessive trait because the heterozygous form looks sorta normalish).... but in this case it's not likely.... the look of the het form has been established pretty well...
And as for the Albino hets.... if they are only het albino the the ratio for the offspring would be...
out of 4
2 normal het for albino
1 normal
1 albino
That makes the normals 66% poss het because the completely normal and the two hets look the same... you can't tell until you breed them which really are the hets...
Now if one of the animals turn out het and the other is not then the offspring would be more like this out of 8 snakes...
2 would be DH for albino and stripe
2 het for Albino
1 Albino het for Stripe
1 het for stripe
1 Albino
1 completely normal
But if both end up being het for stripe then you get out of 16 snakes...
4 would be DH for albino and stripe
2 striped het albino
2 het for Albino
2 Albino het for Stripe
1 Albino Striped
2 het for stripe
1 striped
1 Albino
1 completely normal
If you don't see stripes with the first breeding and you had a good sized litter 20+ then you know one of both boas aren't het....
Hands hurt... no more typing for me...
Good luck with your new boas!

Yeah, you won't get jungles but you should get some other nice morphs out of them.
