I know the difference but am curious what kinds of things you have seen from temps being wrong or manipulated. I was under the impression that you would get all slugs or the offspring would be mostly female with the slugs being presumably the males that didn't form. If any one has pictures or could clarify the types of things you have seen I would appreciate it. I just recieved a beautiful 2003 male with a full stripe from head to tail and washed out sides with great pinks and oranges today and a friend who raises high end pythons mentioned that some people manipulate the temps to cause aberrations. I will try to get some good pics of him soon but for now this is all I have. You can see the striping but not the colors. Thanks guys!

Striping is one of the best examples of the aberration to genetic morph comparison.

Most of the striping out there is just like the striping in your example boa.   I believe this to be strictly abberent.  The offspring from the same litter would show varying degrees of this striping, various patterns, various lengths etc etc.

I believe that genetic morph striping appears as close to the same on each offspring as possible, compared to the adult with the dominate striped gene.   I purchased a striped male, het for striped albino from Pete Kahl.  He said that the stripe morph is noticable by a solid pattern stripe, whether the entire body, or just the tail stripe, as in Pete's case.  Also the stripe morph is noticable by another lateral stripe or lack of lateral patterns along the sides in line with the existing stripe.

Again with all this being said, it really takes a breeding to prove or disprove a genetic morph trait.

Thanks Clay! That is exactly what I was looking for. I was told the father was a fully striped and the mother was just a very clean normal but almost every sibling was striped to some extent. If it isn't genetic he will still make some beautiful babies with my two female pastels. Only time will tell I guess! And, if all else fails I could breed him with my albino het for striped female from PK and the male albino het striped with one of my pastels and then breed their offspring back to each other.:'(

I hope that stripe proves genetic for ya ratman, either way he is slick...and also thanks for shedding some light on the stripe genetics Clay, always good to learn as much as possible about the newer (to me atleast) genetic traits.
