I have a salmon male that was born feb 02. He is just at the 3' mark. Will he be ready to do some business this winter? I hear all these stories about these 18 month old males that are studs. I have been told by a couple people that a male this young/small wont be mature. WHat do you think?

Havent experimented with breeding yet but i think it would be pretty humorous to watch a 3ft male do his think with a 6ft beast! Not sure on the maturity thing but i have heard of boas that age being successful. Kyle

I posted an ad like this a week or two ago and got no replies at all. I sure wish someone with some experience would help us out here. Please! ;D

OK,
I have ZERO experience with this. At least, with a male that's 18 months old. However I have had a male successfully breed a female when it's 28 months and 4 feet long. I never actaully saw any courting or copulation, but the female was gravid. No live babies resulted from the breeding, but it wasn't the fault of the male. So I guess a 28 month old male can breed. I would guess that you could put your snakes together and take a chance they'll "do their thing". There's never any gaurantee you'll get babies. Of course, if you don't get any this year you could always try again next year. I would guess that when a male is ready to breed he's going to breed. Size wouldn't matter. A small male can breed a female much larger than he is. The only thing a male snake needs, in my opinion, is the desire to breed. If they have the desire to breed they're probably ready. Hopefully someone with more experience will give some more info.

Well, I just placed my 4ft ghost male with my anery female, so we'll have to see how that works out. I'll keep everyone posted on their progress.
