View Full Version : surinam question...
can a surinam be bred to a hypo? >:(
sorry if this is a stupid question! :)
I've seen people advertise snakes...like...albino, 1/8th suriname colombian etc....

I think so 100%.. colombians and surinames are bred together regularly and hypos are colombian (atleast part colombian) I actually have considered that breeding since the coloXsuri crosses seem to have a much brighter tail, I would imagine it would really brighten a hypo up nicely
I guess this question is now moot for now. The snake I commited to has been pulled out from under my feet.
thanks anyways for y'alls 2 cents!
I'll keep this in mind though....

Bill Kirby.... I think..... had a litter in 02 of 50% Bcc X Salmon that were spectacular!!! ....But fairly pricey.
Also, in my opinion, you would do just as well or better to produce pastel hypos. They will turn out just as smoking, and will not be integrades, which many seem to disapprove of.
But go with your heart. And if you do cross a hypo with a surinam Bcc or whatever, just be sure to represent the babies honestly. Good Luck!!!

I third the motion of keeping honest about the lineage of boas and reptiles in general. Seems to be a lot of shady business going on lately. Someone once brought up the possibility of creating a snake registration..kind of like show dogs. What do you all think of that?

I'm for a snake register but it probably wouldnt work at this time. Alot of breeders here in the U.S. deal with morphs and some of them do not go about it the long hard way. Some (as previously stated) cross different localities for the color or style they desire. I deal with just locality specific Bcc's (ie guyanan, Peruvian...) so it would be a problem for me to register the lineage of my boas. Some breeders do not have that luxury and would have to lie or loss value of some of their intergrade morphs. It would work in the future when some of these morphs become common place like breeds of dogs but it is too early in this new age of "flavor" boas to do it now.
