View Full Version : I know this has been asked a billion times but...

A friend of mine, who is the one who got me hooked on boas, has a 8.5ft female that is about 5+ years old. I have aquired an odd male hypo, most of you have seen on here before, that is roughly 4-4.5ft and about as thick as.... hrmm... a little smaller in girth then my wrist, but this girl is about as this as my thigh! Will this little man be ready (he's almost 2 years old) this fall? If so, when should cool down begin? He has shed 3 times in the 1.5 months that i've had him. The reason I am asking is because niether one of us had tried breeding and seeing pics on the net, it is very hard to tell actual size of some of these breeders. Thanks in advance.

They sound perfect. If you had Jeff's video you would know he likes lean males for breeders max 5'. He should do great as long as he is sexually mature which usually happens by 2 years in males. I can't tell you about cool down because I don't do it. I would suggest getting the video; Jeff doesn't either. Good luck! :'(

I think you should just give it a shot. I am trying smaller males this year, so only time will tell. I cool my boas and I start the first week of september and end the cycle in mid october. You have to decide for yourself when to start it though.

If you want to send that hypo male over here, I'll give him a shot, that's for sure! Man I like hypos.

That Boa should be mature. If not, he will be next year. Just grad a book and/or video on beeding and your all set.

Well do you have a 2nd male you know is ready to breed? If so maybe go ahead and use him and pump up this little guy another season.

However it shouldn't hurt him to breed so if he's willing, let him loose to do his thing ;D

I had a 6 foot normal male, but I traded him in as apart of the deal to get this hypo. it made more sense to me to try and reporduce a codominant gene then just normals.

What is up with those light spots? I've got a hypo that has white and off white spots like that, and they are not scars.

Yeah, their not scars-- the guy I bought it from said he was the only one in his litter to look like this. Maybe it's abberant, or maybe it's genetic? We'll find out. We're going to start cool down a little early, but prolong it. Starting Oct. 1st. BUT first we have to get this 8.5ft female probed, because she has no spurs, but she's never bred or been sexed. Also about the spots. They seem to fluxuate a lot more then the rest of his body. Spookkkyyy.... ^_^
