This is just like a little survey that I've been interested in doing. I am allowing some smaller males in my breeding projects this year, and just wanted to get everyones input. What is the smallest male that has ever produced babies or slugs for you?

Please state their length and age if you can. Thanks everyone; I hope this turns out interesting!   :-[Jon Falco

Well this year will be my first attempt..my female is 6ft and about 28 pounds. The male breeding her is approx. 4 1/2 feet and 8-10 pounds. She has just completed her Pre Ovulation Shed..and my male has been relentlessly courting her. I will keep you posted!

I had a male Hypo breed for me a couple yrs back that was exactly 18 months old & 4' even. He sired 23 live & 1 stillborn. I'm glad you posted this.I've got a male albino I recently purchased. He's the same age as the Hypo listed above, just doesn't have the size......yet. So I'm curious to some answers........... IF , anyone will post answers. :'(

Well I have never bred boas before (only burmese pythons) so to answer this question kind of...
I am going to try my male pastel poss het albino who will be approx 20 months old and just over 3' (I know not likely to produce) to a female that is 8'+ and approx 25-30 pounds. (she is a big big girl)

Thanks for everyone posting. I tried to put my male ghost who is roughly 46" with my anery, but he showed no interest at all. So I've seperated them and will put them together again within the next few days for round two. He has the size and he is over 18 months, so I think he has the potential. I just think he needs the motivation. :D

Jon, I wonder if you got him some of Jeff Ronne's snake porno movies to get him revved up a bit. Maybe that breeding video would show him what goes where and for what reason. I am seriously going to purchase it in the next month or so, I want to breed one of my females this winter. I am just wondering if she is old enough and big enough. Maybe we should do a survey, what is the youngest or smallest female to concieve. My girl is just over 5 ft., and about 3.5 years old. She may not ever get real big, but she is well muscled. I have a cage with big thick sliding doors each door must be about 1--15 lbs., well I went in to my office before work one morning and she was gone. At first I thought the kids left the cage open, my heart sank. i lost her for over a week. I finally found her inside a filing cabinet curled up under the false bottom. Well, when I put her back in, I sat at my desk and watched her and sure enough she pressed her body against that glass door and slide it open. She is one strong boa.

18 month old hypo that probably weighed about 3.5 lbs and was approx. 3 feet . Bred like a champion . However the female was very receptive and ovulated within 6 weeks if I recall correctly. This girl weighed over 25 lbs.

That must have been cool seeing that little fella go at it, huh Darrin? As for the video; I know that I build my own cages and when people ask me what my opinion on buying cages is, I say just build it, but as far as the video goes, Jeff put a lot of time and effort into these compilations. I think it is well worth the money and well worth your time to watch it over and over. Bottom line.......Get the video. Keep them posts coming guys!

I've got 2 males I am going to try this season, one is just over 4' and the other is just over 3'. So I've been watching this post. J Stone bred a male that was 32 inches to 2 females successfully last season. Here is a pic off KS of the breeding, It made me feel a little better.

I am so excited! My male ghost is wrapped around my female anery. I re-introduced them today after a 10 day seperation, and the male was very excited, flicking his tongue alot and the female was raising her tail slightly, I suppose she was giving off pheremones. Now, they are not completely aligned yet and I suppose this is just the beggining, so I won't count my chickens before they are hatched, but it is a very exciting moment. Also, in case I didn't mention it earlier, he is apprx. 45".

If you can see this in these horrible pics, this is my 36" (3ft) Dumerils wrapped around my big 8ft girl...
He's all gimped out too! lol - a 'gimpy'...
bought him with a tail 'defect' I, obviously, wasn't told about.. actually kind of looks like you used an ice-cream scoop and scooped out a chunk of his body from up top.
It's located 10" up from the tip of his tail, on his back - guess it didn't effect his breeding, huh? Fertilization is another thing..lol

here's another...
what? a Vision cage you say? ... I inserted a 'mold' into this 422Dto make it look like a Vision , just for fun... cause I was bored...lol.. ok - OK -just kidding!!!
I actually just have a stack of 6 footers I picked up to sort of help clean house after the passing of our great friend Peter Watson.
I use them for some 8-9 footers, although I still have 8 footers in my 421D's as well. Everything else.... Boaphile.
