I didn't cycle anyone, and this female possible het was ready to breed anyway, so I put my striped hypo with her and he seems Happy.

Update,
I think this breeding may payoff!  today is the 105th day after the post ovulation shed.  I had a due date of 11/29 written down, for some reason. I caught this female all kinked up against the wall of her enclosure last night.  Later I found her in several S shapes with some mild contraction.   I think she was moving the babys down.  I got out the calendar and counted the days and it was 104 day past the POS. So any time now could be some babys!!!!

I though she was going to deliver the other night! She is going into a shed right now (eyes are almost blue) and is laying with the rear part of her body on her side. I haven't seen one deliver in a blue before, kinda has me wondering.

Ok this female shed on the 28th and took a small poo on the 30th which looked like a melted halloween snickers. (sorry for the graphic description) Has been cruising all over, but has realy lost some girth in the last couple of days? I mean she looks like theres nothing to be had here? Any ideas? :(

She will look thinner as the babies are absorbing their yolk. :'( Congrats now is the fun time on choosing which ones will be keepers.

I appriceate all of the thumbs up. I am starting to get a bit concerned here though. My female has realy shrank in the last 2 weeks since the pic on her side was taken, she is smaller now than she normaly is, and no babys, where can that much weight be going. She is still very active. I have never seen one of my boas shrink down like this before birth. How much smaller did any of your females get before birth?

Ed I did notice my females slim down a tiny bit, and one reason could very well be, logically, because the babies have absorbed more of the yolk.
Another reason may be, since she has 'moved them down a bit', that they are spread over a larger area, making it seem thinner.
Either way, keep us posted.
Have you been misting her down, trying to 'trick' her in that way?
Has there been any storm fronts moving through your area?

Trying to help.. hope things work out well...

take care - Joe

I have been keeping her humidity at 90%, spraying her in the morning and just before the lights go out. I live in a temperate rainforest so its stormy all the time.LOL....Her weight seems to be shifting to the back, and she has been streched out along the wall rolled over on her side every day, it's hard to describe without a pic but she doesn't look comfortable. She never realy got that big (in my eyes) so I have my doubts, but she sure acts gravid.LOL.... She is at 126 days and driving me nuts!

Ed,

I have a female who is also @ day 126!!!! She didn't have a POS, but did have an "intermediate" shed about a month before her "due" date (as best as I could calculate, anyway). She also just shed again about a week ago. She's swollen as can be in her last third of her body, and getting thinner up front. Still refusing food (for the last three months) and coiled tightly on the heat source with little movement. She's driving me nuts!!!!!!

My other (much smaller) female slugged out (27 yucky "yams") so I've had my fingers crossed on this one, she's a BEAST (8' 4" and 40+ pounds!)! Let's hope these girls make up their minds soon and drop those kids!!!!!

Good luck!

I am sure Ed will not keep us in suspense when the female finally does drop

Either my dates are off and her mid shed was the pos or she didn't take. I can't see why she would be laying on her side with her belly scales exposed, and not be gravid though. If she drops you can bet there will be pics!!

If she's not gravid, and you find out why she was laying on her side that much, please let me know...
I have a 9' female Peruvian that has been doing this for over 2 months!!!
I'm getting tired of changing the date of her 'Pre-ov twist / possible ovulation' on her feed card! lol

Joe,
I found her in a similar position right after she had been with the male originaly, I had marked the 2 days she was like this on her card as possible ovulations. These dates were 7/12 and 7/25 they were followed shortly afterward by a shed. She didn't do this again untill mid november and has been on her side daily since. You got the only other reason I could think of, pre ovulation twist, if someone else can think of a reason for a boa to rolled on their side I'd be glad to hear it! LOL....

I've actually had a few animals that occasionally just decide to lay twisted or even completely on their sides... Male and female but all at least 2 years old. I don't know why they do it... but the females weren't ovulating and obviously the males weren't either... So maybe some cases of odd "pre ov twists" are actually something else altogether...
Maybe they do it if they're feeling a little gassy? *shrugs*

From the way you explained it above Ed, sounds like you are gonna have some babies soon! Hope things work out!

See now for a boa to be gassy I would imagine they would have to have a decent amount of food in their belly, and this girl has just got her appitite back and reluctantly took a medium rat at the begining of last week. She also is more rolled over to the point of being slightly inverted, belly scales pointing at 2:00 not 5:00.

Joe, I hope she is, just trying to keep myself from thinking it's definite.

Have you considered getting a vet to ultrasound her? Personally I wouldn't want to move her but I bet you could get a horse vet or another traveling vet with a mobile unit to come out to your house.... A horse vet wouldn't know anything about snakes of course but it could at least give you an idea of what's going on inside.... The radical slimming down would concern me... my female only slimmed down marginally before she dropped.... she was still quite buldgy...
good luck!

Funny thing, I was just in the works of purchasing an adult female Het for Albino and she supposedly became gravid last year, bulged up quite a bit, then, near partuition time, she slimmed back down and nothing happened!
So, as far as I understand it, she retained and probably reabsorbed her ova/slugs...
now in this situation I have heard that they can drop those slugs anytime later, from a few days to a few years!
I have heard instances where the female produced viable young a year or two later, along with some slugs of which some were obviously much older, smaller and drier - so these would be some that were retained way back when.

Now I know this is possible, but I was also reassured by the person that this would not affect her, meaning she would be just as healthy as a virgin or proven breeder, and just as able to produce healthy young this season...

Can anyone confirm this, or deny it?
I'd deffinately want to be sure dropping $1-2,000 , ya know!

Thanks guys...
