Another ovulation question.......again : )

My Salmon male locked up with one of my females 2 - 10 for 2 days,then wouldn't have anything to do with her. March 5th, I go into my snake room and she is swelled up like she swallowed a opposum!
She had ate 2 days prior, but it was a medium sized rat, which you couldn't even tell thet she'd eat by looking at her.
My qestions are:
1) Does ovulation mean she's gravid
2)she ovulated 24 days after doing the nasty,is she gravid?
3) where the male would not have anything to do with her after copulating for 2 days...is there s good chance,I blew it by removing the male?
4) Whaddya think? Please post your 2 cents

Ovulation can cerainly happen without her being gravid but copulation usually takes place before ovulation so if he had lost interest you are probably fine. You could try putting him back just to see if he shows interest. If not, watch to see if she becomes darker in color and goes into a longer than normal shed and remains darker after that shed. That would be a good indicator that she took. Record that date and count forward 105 days and that should be your due date! Good luck and keep us posted! :'(

1 - No, ovulating doesn't mean she is gravid. Ovulation is what must occur first, in order for her to become gravid.

2 - Ovulating 24 days after doing it does not mean she is gravid. She may have just had the right conditions at that time to go ahead and ovulate, and now you need the male more than ever. If large swell remains, then she may possibly be gravid - after 24 days you may begin to see slight signs..

3 - You didn't blow it, just put him back - quick! If he doesn't do it, try re-introducing him again after a few days or try throwing an extra male in there to stimulate some activity from the first.

4 - That what I think. Just did. lol..
