I have a boa that started giving birth this morning. Around 6:30. It's now almost 1:30. She had several within the first hour and none since. She still looks very big in her end and she looks like she's still trying to give birth but nothing's coming out. Any ideas? -Chris

Well about 3:30 pm (9 hrs after she started giving birth) she stopped trying to have more. She's still very large from her vent forward about 8 inches. Scales still stretched. Something's gotta be goin on in there. She isn't trying anymore though. At 5:30 I took her out of the cage with the babies because she was close to laying on them and I didn't want her to crush them. So now I guess I'll just wait and maybe she'll have the rest tonight?? Has anyone ever had or heard of a split birth like this? -Chris

No unfortunately I haven't! It sounds like she could be having some type of complication! I hope I am wrong and wish you and her the best of luck! Congratulations on the live ones! :'(

Thanks guys. I was considering taking her to the vet but I don't think there's a need. She never had any more babies or slugs. The bulge above her vent has mostly gone away and she poo'd today so I think she's gonna be fine. This was my first breeding attempt so I didn't really know what to expect. What luck to catch her while she was having them! Again, thanks for the well wishes. -Chris

Well it was my first attempt at breeding as I said so I'm happy with the somewhat pathetic outcome. Lol. She had 7 slugs, 1 stillborn, and 4 live babies 1 of which died the next day. I don't mind the small numbers. It was still an incredible experience and I can't wait till next year. -Chris
