I was wondering how you guys decide what two snakes you want to breed together? Not necessarily for something like getting albinos or whatnot, but the other aspects. What things do you look for, in a snake?
I have a poss. het for albino female, and I am looking for a male for her. In a few years, I would like to start a small breeding program. I figure I have plenty of time to learn what I need to know. I also have help from the breeder I got my girl from :)
But, I am having a hard time, trying to decide what male to place with her. I am not sure what I need to look for.
And, I have heard that the Kahl strain and the Sharp strains are incompatible. Can anyone clarify that for me? My girl is a Kahl strain, or I guess I could say, her parents were purchased directly from him. This is something I had not thought of before, since I didnt know. Which would mean, I need to be sure the male is from the Kahl strain too?
Thanks for anyone who answers my questions in advance :)

I would look into getting a male pastel het albino if I were you, if your female is a het she will throw some outstanding albino babys. I think Jeff has some available. Take a look at Jeffs pastel albinos they are NICE!!
Other than that I just pick out the best looking snakes I can get my hands on... 2 great looking snakes don't usuay make ugly babys. So look for the best looking 100% het albino male you can find. It will probably be here..LOL... :'(

Yea, thats what I am going to get for her. I got her from Clay English, and was hoping he would have some het for albinos this year, but his boas arent cooperating LOL
I have found a couple that I like. Including one of Jeffs. Talking hubby into spending the money on one of Jeff's might be a little harder though hehe
Just curious as to what the breeders did :) So I guess my thinking, on finding the one I like best, was right :) hehe
Thanks Panama Red :)

You must think of the money you would spend on one of Jeff's Pastel het Albinos as an investment, because the payoff when you finally produce your own Pastel Albinos will be well worth it, in my opinion.
Good luck choosing. ;D

I agree Denny. But my hubby doesnt have the same love for snakes that I do hehe
I do have a plan though. So I think it will work out, me getting one of Jeff's babies :)

A wise choice Virginia. I have a few of Jeff's progeny, as my bank account, or lack thereof can attest! ;D :P ;D
I'm sure the hubby will understand.

Good luck Rowena. I hope you can convince your hubby!! It will be a great investment!!!
In SA we do not have different morphs yet, and most of the Boas in this country are B.c.i..
I took the best looking adult pair that I have and cycled them and put them together. I am hoping for the best. The male no longer seems interested, so I am hoping that the female is gravid. She is putting on a bit of body in her mid section, so I'm holding thumbs.
I also put another female with my male and I watched them mate for about 4 hours last Thursday evening. I'm holding thumbs there too. This female is bigger than the first one I had him hopefully mate with, but she is not that pretty. I'm sure there will be some stunning babies.
Hopefully I will be here again, telling you of all the babies and showing pics!!!

That would be great Bushbaby :) I am sure everyone would love baby pics!!!
Now if only I could get ahold of Jeff. He is not a easy person to get in touch with lol Probably have to call him. Hubby said if I can get ahold of him, I can get the boa :) WOOHOO! hehe
