i plan on breeding four pairs next season and want to make sure that i'm as close to ready as possible - you know, so everything that i've done can go to hell at the last minute..

when do the So. Cal. breeders start cooling their animals??? from what i've learned, Sept. is a good starting point, but it's still good and hot till late Oct. here....

any help would be very much appreciated. this seems to be a really great forum.

well if your using Jeffs method of breeding... you dont really NEED to cool your boas... Im here in San Diego so I know what you mean about it still being nice and warm...

OK i might not be wording this right .. but
According to Jeff... cooling/cycling might actually close the "Window of Opportunity" (LMAO I can hear Jeff saying that in my head).

I live in San Antonio Texas and mine are breeding right now. I had to seperate them today so that I could feed the male, but they had been going at it steady for 3 weeks. They are still on summer light cycle and temps right now and the only reason they quit was because of me. So I wouldn't worry about cooling them, just put them together and they will know when it is time. One thing to do previous to putting them together is to make sure that the female is at least 300% over normal body weight for a at least couple of months befre you plan on breeding. This extra weight is what will signal the females body to make yolk, but you can't just fatten them up a few weeks before breeding. They need to be that way for some time.
