Hi,
My one gravid Boa, which is due anytime now, has been regulating herself very strangely the past week or so. In the morning she goes and lays in her water bowl, which is on the heated side, then later she goes and lays on the cooler side of her cage and at times she is on her hot spot. Then she'll be back in the water again.
Is this normal?? Should I take the water out?? When I open the cage it is hot and humid, and I can't see that it should be a problem.
Any advice / comments would be appreciated.

Hi Bushbaby,
Just to be on the save side, I would take the bowl out and replace it for a small one where she can't lie in.

What could the complications be in this??? I suppose just having her babies in the water?? I will put in a smaller water bowl, but I do not really have much smaller, but will go buy one if needs be.

Sounds like she is becomeing restless like most female boas about one to two weeks before droping there babies. Question has she just been moveing around like she is looking for a good spot to drop her young.

I agree with Chris and 2nd Alarm. It sounds like she is cruising, and getting ready to drop. If you have bowl big enough for her to lay in, she decide to drop her babies in it.
I have a suggestion to leave it in, but take the water out of the container, and maybe get a smaller water bowl that she can just drink out of. If she opts to have her babies in the original contaner it would make removing themfrom the cage a snap.
Just a thought anyways.

Thanx Jesse. That's exactly what I had planned!!!
I recon she is also looking for the best spot to have the litter!! I can't wait!! I am so extatic!! I am just holding thumbs that all goes well.
My other female is also cruising alot, and seems to have found a general spot to lay. Guess I'll have to wait and see what comes form that!!!
I have also covered their cages so that there's less disturbances.
