What do these terms mean? I am sorry I hope that doesn't sound stupid. If you breed a 100% het with a normal would you get something out of that or does it have to be two Hets? Just wondering. I see so many different breedingd here it gets somewhat confusing. I am not going to breed but just very interested in it. Shan

Most of the time when you hear the term het, short for heterozygous, it is referring to a gene carrier for a trait(generally recessive), that does not actually show the trait.

For example, the albino trait we know is recessive in boas. When you breed an albino to a normal the result would be a litter of hets. To actually produce an albino, both parents will have to at least be carriers of the gene...... albino X het, het X het, or albino X albino.

www.geneticswizard.com can be a great help in figuring out what your results would be.
