I had a male in with this female that I have been attempting to breed. (this is my first attempt) The male was in with the female from the begining of november the the begining of february. He was active the whole time untill about a week before I took him out on february 4th. I saw copulation once for sure during that time period. on february 6th after the male had been removed the female swelled up larger than any meal I have ever fed her. I am guessing that this was the ovulation. Two days later I noticed that she was in the blue (february 8th). Since i noticed her in blue on february 8th she has been in the head conserve position. Today feb 26th she shed her skin. She is still in the heat conserve position.
My question is this: Do females normally ovulate while the male is in with her? Did I take the male out too early? What is going on, could she be gravid now? I'll get some pictures of her tommorrow so you can see how she looks. Any help will be much appreciated. Joe Babel in Tucson Arizona

It seems like the shed came a little fast after the ovulation, but you never know. I had a female ovulate 2 months after I removed the male. I would just keep her on a light feeding schedual for a while. At two months you should be able to tell if she is gravid for sure or not. Then you can adjust feeding.

Thanks for the feed back. I'll keep a close eye on her. The last time I fed her was January 5th, the day after I removed the male. She normally would be wanting to eat by now, she is a pig.
Another question for you guys: Do the females normally ovulate after they have been knocked up so to speak, or do they get impregnatated after ovulation?
